Lesley L. Smith has collected a plethora of degrees including an M.S. and a Ph.D. in Elementary Particle Physics. In 2012 she completed her MFA in Writing Popular Fiction at Seton Hill University.
Lesley has published over a million words of speculative fiction. She has several popular series including The Quantum Cop Series, The Kat Cubed Series, The Space Operetta Series, The Conservation of Luck Series,The Temporal Dreams Series, The Reality Alternatives Series--featuring novels and short stories.
Lesley's short science fiction has been published in several venues including "Analog Science Fiction and Fact", "Daily Science Fiction", Nano Meets Macro, and multiple anthologies. She is an active member of the Science Fiction/Fantasy Writers of America (SFWA) and Rocky Mountain Fiction Writers (RMFW).
She is a founder and editor of the speculative fiction ezine Electric Spec (www.electricspec.com). She enjoys blogging about writing and speculative fiction (electricspec.blogspot.com
).
She has had a variety of scientific jobs including investigating quarks, dark matter, extrasolar planets, clouds, atmospheric chemistry and global warming. She has worked for a variety of research institutions including The University of Kansas, Argonne National Laboratory, the Department of Energy, the National Center for Atmospheric Research, NASA, and The University of Colorado.
Lesley's nonfiction articles have been published in several venues including Journal of Climate, Climate Dynamics, Journal of the Meteorological Society of Japan, Journal of Hydrometerology, Journal of Geophysical Research-Atmospheres, Astrophysical Journal, Physical Review, and Modern Physics Letters. She is a long-time member of the The American Physical Society(APS) and The American Geophysical Union (AGU).
She also enjoys giving presentations about writing, science, and speculative fiction.
