A message from the editors:
We are very excited to bring you our third year of Electric Spec. This issue has the great short stories you've come to expect, plus more, more, more! We begin with an interview with the award-winning science fiction author, Robert W. Sawyer. Rob shares some incredibly thoughtful insights on fiction, genre, his work, and the craft of writing . The first story we've cooked up for you, "Silvermesh," takes you to the streets of Dublin where an "advance" in medical technology has gone awry-with terrible consequences. "The Colossal Walden" is a lighthearted look at what happens when man tries too hard to imitate nature. For even more laughs, "Lancelot Nova" introduces us to a space hero with a big ego and even bigger domestic problems. Speaking of domestic problems, our Editor's Corner story uses a unique format to explore the relationship between a man and his . . . whatever in "The Amazing Mechanical Wife." For those who like fantasy adventure, "Diminishing Returns" contains a battle of shapechangers that will leave you breathless-and perhaps a tiny bit smaller. Our next story, "Cosmic Music" strikes a bittersweet chord with its exploration of rock music that gets taken to another dimension. Our final story "A Greater Power" gives new meanings to, well, greater power. Finally, we'd like to extend a warm welcome to Marty Mapes, who debuts his new regular column "Spec Fic in Flicks." This column will explore insights about science fiction and fantasy on the movie scene.
