my self-driving car
hates my mother-in-law and
won't go to New York
astronaut training day ten:
first ride in the Puke-a-whirl
after a big lunch
millions of humans
escaping a dead planet
Ark B hopes and dreams
sleep in Zero G
floating in and out of my
layer of warm air
following their steps
his footprints last forever
walking on the moon
hearts drawn in the fine sand
alone on the dusty moon
we watch the Earthrise
on the red planet
over Schiaparelli's rim
our ship just a fleeting star
my cryosleep hangover
demands gravity
orbiting Saturn
your face is beautiful
in the soft ringlight
Special Feature: Vogon poetry sample
Thy prating wordburgling doth so offend
my dispeptic liver
oh, drooling sorrow and misunderstood pain!
Time Travel Villanelle
I step into the time machine
I say it's only for a lark
Take a look back at seventeen
Our rundown city once was green
Safe at night to walk the park
I step into the time machine
Could I meet the homecoming queen?
Say the words to light a spark?
Take a look back at seventeen
I want to stay here with Maureen
But after kissing in the dark
I step into the time machine
My old hands run across the screen
So many years, love's left no mark
Take a look back at seventeen
Her dress is made of red sateen
Homecoming float set to embark
I step into the time machine
Take a look back at seventeen
