Message from the Editors Spring has sprung. The flowers are blooming, the birds are chirping, and the nature is showing off its beauty. This, of course, puts the editors here at Electric Spec in mood for stories about zombies, serial killers, kidnapped children, twisted plastic surgery, and were-turtles. Yes, folks, we're going a little dark on you in this issue. Anthony J. Rapino gives a shout out to Poe while making you think twice before entering into your next "serious" relationship with "Inside the Walls of East Lombard Street." In "Frazee" by Patricia Russo, we see two extremes: how far people are willing to go in the name of magic power, and how far they are willing to go to save the ones they love. In a fantasy twist on the traditional high school angst story, E. Bundy's "The Turtle Wore Mascara" explores what happens when a teen goes through a transformation of an unexpected kind. And, speaking of twists, we think you'll like Ryan Kinkor's approach to the zombie genre in "Invasive Species." And for those of you who are wondering just how far the trend of botox and boob jobs will go, check out "Remodel with Swan Parts" by Michael Griffin. Safe to say, the trend ain't pretty.
Award-winning science fiction author Robert J. Sawyer gives advice on how humanity can survive the death of the sun, among other topics, in a fascinating interview. Fitting nicely with our dark spring mood, our movie columnist Marty Mapes gives us his take on Hitchcock's bad boys (and animals). Finally, Betsy offers a story set in the world of her urban fantasy series: Sentinel, due out from Whiskey Creek Press later in the year.
